Seven Cornerstones – Part 3
Worldview of Jesus Christ
Worldview – a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world.
The consequences of our sin can only be forgiven and eliminated through Jesus Christ. That forgiveness is available only by our personal, sincere acknowledgment and confession of our sins and complete reliance on His grace for the forgiveness of those sins.
Do we really believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven?
1) Jesus was
to be the only way.
And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”—Genesis 3:15 (NLT)
2) Jesus
He is the only way.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.—John 14:6 (NLT)
3) His
taught that Jesus is the only way.
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”—Acts 4:12 (NLT)
4) The
explicitly says that Jesus is the only way.
For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.—1 Timothy 2:5–6 (NLT)
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.—John 3:16 (NLT)
What did Jesus do for us?
Substitution = a person or thing acting or serving in place of another
Atonement = reparation for a wrong or injury
Substitutionary Atonement
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.—Romans 6:23 (NLT)
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.—2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)
He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.—1 Peter 2:24 (NLT)
Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.—1 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.—Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.—Ephesians 2:4–10 (NLT)
