Easter 2025
We are here today to CELEBRATE the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
We have an insatiable need to create a God that we can see and place upon our mantles!
1 Corinthians 15:31 (ESV) – I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day!
NONE of our idols have been resurrected nor have they brought resurrection!
Luke 24:5–7 (ESV) – “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
What do we do with our dead idols?
Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV) – Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:1–8 (ESV) – If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
If there is anything to celebrate, it is the fulfillment of God’s plan in Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NLT) – I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
