Ephesians 2:8–10 (NLT) – God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

“The Devil Made Me Do It”

Our greatest enemy is us.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.—Romans 5:12 (NLT)

Our heart, feelings, and desires lie to us.

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?—Jeremiah 17:9 (NLT)

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.—Romans 7:18 (NLT)

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.—Isaiah 5:20 (NLT)

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.—Ephesians 2:1–3 (NLT)

Jesus saves us from ourselves .

He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.—1 John 2:2 (NLT)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.—Romans 6:23 (NLT)

Conclusion:

And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”—Matthew 1:21 (NLT)
